Brush Fire Likely Cause of Death for Baxter County Man

BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. – An elderly man has died after a brush fire ignites on his property.

John Heenan, 79, was found deceased Monday (3/18/19) evening while fire fighters were battling the out-of-control brush fire in the area of Peace Valley Lane in Baxter County, Arkansas.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office says Heenan was found about 120 feet from where his vehicle was parked. Evidence indicates that Heenan died as a result of the fire. A portion of his vehicle was also damaged by the fire.

An autopsy is being performed by the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to determine exact cause and manner of death. 

Investigators believe the death to be accidental.
