Branson Fire Destroys Vacant Shop, Damages Fiber Optics

BRANSON, Mo. – A former ceramic shop on Fall Creek Road in Branson is destroyed by fire, leading to a brush fire and additional damages Monday night.

Branson firefighters responded to the intersection of Fall Creek and Walker Road around 4:30 p.m., and found heavy smoke and flames upon arrival.

Fire Chief Ted Martin describes the structure, located just east of BranSubs sandwich shop, as two mobile homes put together, with a wood frame roof, sitting adjacent to a metal “butler” building.

Martin says one of the biggest losses came as extensive damage to nearby Suddenlink Communications infrastructure, including fiber optic cable, resulting in disrupted services for hundreds if not thousands of customers in the area.

Martin says firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze. He says recent demolition at the property may have been a factor.

No injuries are reported. Western Taney County firefighters provided mutual aid. TCAD Paramedics also responded. Crews remained on scene for about three hours.
