“Branson Con” fans Converge on the Convention Center

BRANSON, Mo. –The nerds and geeks of the Ozarks unite.

Comic and superhero fans are gathering in Branson this weekend for the 2019 “Branson Con” event.

From dozens of vendors and celebrities, to performing dogs — Branson Con is expected to draw thousands of fans from all around the Ozarks.

“It’s a time to get together and be who we want to be. even if they may not be who we are,” said Keeli Flint of Ozark.

It’s taking place at the Hilton Branson Convention Center.

Chad Lindberg, best known for his role as “Jesse” on the Fast and Furious, shared what he believes is the draw for these types of events.

“Ah man just being a geek is the draw. I’m a huge geek. I love everything from Star Wars to Super Heroes — to uh, all that stuff,” Lindberg said, “Being yourself. Embracing dressing up in costumes.”

But, for comic fans Flint, it’s about NOT being yourself.

“It’s a chance to kind of put..whereas I may want to be outgoing ..and with people normally I can’t. But, this kind of gives you a face to be,” said Flint.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” actor Sean Gunn, explained why he loves events like these.

“When you’re an actor, you want to work. You want  people to see your work — and you want them to appreciate and enjoy it,” Gunn said.

Branon Con will also showcase four-legged celebrities like “Diskey,” Branson’s own therapy dog — who’s helping to promote the upcoming movie “Super Power Dogs.”

Russ Alright Rosencrans is Diskey’s owner and handler.

“All of our dogs all have super powers — even the newest dog you get, can all be superheroes, even if you just rescued them today, said Rosencrans.

Branson Con runs all weekend long at the Branson Convention Center.
