SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The outdoors came inside Friday at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Gardens.
The center hosted a School’s Out Christmas Gift And Decoration Making event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday. Plant materials were harvested from the gardens then dried.
Participants could then choose flowers, leaves, cones and pods to create ornaments, table decorations and even wall hangings if they desired.
Botanical Gardens coordinator Katie Keith says it’s a wonderful way to connect people with the outside world, especially this time of year.
“So many of our plants are decorated with flowers and berries and we’re able to incorporate those and bring those into our homes,” Keith said. “Really have the cheer of summertime when it’s kinda dark and gloomy outside.”
It cost $5 to attend with all materials provided.
