Bolivar Woman Dies in House Fire

BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Bolivar City Fire Department responded to a residential fire at about 10 a.m. Monday that resulted in one fatality in the 2200 block of S. Morrisville Road.

Amanda Ward, 29, was pronounced dead by the Polk County Coroner Monday. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire, according to a press release.

Units were at the scene within 5 minutes of the alert. Crews immediately began to suppress the fire, according to the release.

The fire was finally extinguished at about 1 p.m. The cause and location of where the fire began are still under investigation, according to the release.

A collaborative investigation with the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bolivar City Fire Department and Bolivar Police Department is ongoing.

The Bolivar City Fire Department thanked Central Polk County, Morrisville Fire Departments, Humansville Fire, Prairie Grove Fire Departments, Polk County Sherriff, as well as City of Bolivar Staff including Bolivar Police Department and Bolivar City Administration in the release. The department also thanked Gray and Michelle Nordon with Countryside Assembly Church for providing meals for the responders on scene.
