SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Summer typically is a time of year where blood supplies drop. However, local organizations plan to throw a changeup to that trend starting Monday.
The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will kick off it’s 13th Annual Bleed Red Blood Drive, in conjunction with the Springfield Cardinals.
All donors will recieve a t-shirt, two free tickets to an upcoming Springfield Cardinals game, as well as a coupon to Hardees.
“The very first year the Springfield Cardinals came into being, we started the Bleed Red Blood Drive, and it’s become such a success. It is the largest blood drive involving a minor league sports team in the nation. So, it’s a big deal. We’ll have close to a thousand people come through our doors during the two days of the drive. They’ll get great gifts — that’s part of it. But the greatest gift of all is the gift they’re giving area patients,” Chris Pilgrim, media relations representative with Community Blood Center, said.
Blood donors can step up to the plate at CBCO on West Plainview Monday or Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
