AURORA, Mo – The Missouri Lottery office in Springfield says, Sharita Bell of Aurora won $1 million off a Scratchers ticket.
“I’m still kind of in shock,” said Sharita Bell.
Bell and her family recent moved to the Ozarks from Oklahoma, to manage a convenience store.
On a regular basis, Bell and her 2-year-old go to the Aurora Price Cutter and buy some macaroni and cheese.
On the way out, they bought tickets to play at home.
According to MO Lottery, most of the time, she plays a $3 or $5 Scratchers ticket, but this time, her husband gave her a little encouragement to try something big.
So, she bought a $30 one.
“I was sitting there scratching it, and I asked him, ‘What are these gold coins for?’ And he said, ‘It probably means you won $10 or $20,’” said Bell. “I scratched it all off and said, ‘I won a million dollars.’ I handed him the ticket, and I think he was more shocked than I was.”
Bell won, immediately signed the back of the ticket and headed to the Lottery office with her family.
They plan to buy a house and a little land outside of town.
“We really like it here and will be here a little while,” said Bell, “We also want to plan a vacation with our older son and his fiancée to Yellowstone – one big family vacation. It’s getting real and really exciting.”
MO Lottery says, the $300,000,000 Golden Ticket” Bell won with, is a $30 Scratchers game that began on Jan. 25, 2016.
