JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — In a KOLR10 follow up report…
“Legally deficient on its face,” “Baseless and partisan.”
Those are words the Missouri Attorney General’s Office is using to describe a complaint about campaign funds Josh Hawley used to win Missouri’s Senate seat.
Earlier this month, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft announced his office is investigating a complaint Hawley may have used public funds to support his campaign.
The allegations came from the American Democracy Legal Fund.
Today, the Attorney General’s Office sent records and a letter to the Secretary of State.
The letter says: “No public funds were ever expended by the AGO for any political campaign. For outside consultants and that no AGO staff participated in any campaign activity.”
The letter asks the Attorney General to dismiss the complaint.
