SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Arvest Bank has surpassed its goal to provide food to neighbors in need around the Ozarks during the summer.
“So, every year, we get all of our banks across 16 regions to get together and collect money and canned food goods and try to get to one million meals,” Kristin Mock, marketing specialist with Arvest Bank, said.
Friday, volunteers helped give out hot dogs, chips and Memorial Day desserts in exchange for donations to reach “one million meals.”
Mock says this annual springtime effort helps support local food banks such as Ozarks Food Harvest, so every canned good and cash donation stay local.
She says this is an important time to give since donations drop this time of year meaning kids sometimes suffer during summer school.
Arvest has reached its “one million-eth” meal and still has a week to go so there is still time to support this campaign.
