SPRINGFIELD, Mo- Arvest Bank has announced they have exceeded their goal for this year 1 Million Meals Campaign.
In a press release, they said their total number of meals was 2,114,630 meals in the fight against hunger.
The campaign launched in 2011 and has raised more than 13 million meals and $2.3 Million in the eight years of the initiative
Funds raised go directly to the bank’s dozens of local food partners.
“We are thrilled, and humbled, by the success of this year’s 1 Million Meals campaign. We could not have done it without the hard work and generosity of our associates, customers and community members,” said Brad Crain, Local Bank President of Arvest in Springfield said in a statement. “Thanks to them, many of our neighbors in need will receive help.”
The bank’s decision to provide one million meals was based on the fact hunger is an issue in every community it serves. In 2016, more than 12% of American households surveyed were food-insecure, meaning they lacked access to enough food for an active, healthy lifestyle for all household members
