ROGERS, Ar. – A group of 8th graders in Rogers, Arkansas have a few years to wait before they can vote but they aren’t letting their age stop them from getting involved.
Students at the Arkansas Arts Academy are designing postcards to send to newly registered voters.
The cards are meant to remind them to head to the polls and cast their vote.
Studies show only 20% of voters younger than 25 turns out for elections.
Students like Sarah says they already know the importance of casting a ballot and says, “Without voting, we do not have a say in what happens. We just go on thinking everything’s fine and they can do whatever they want when we should have a voice as well”.
The students sent 200 postcards to voters.
None of them mentioned voting for any party, they simply included election dates and sample ballots.
