ORLANDO – Disney’s Animal Kingdom welcomes its first baby hippo in 13 years and the baby has ties to Springfield.
Tuma, the Nile hippopotamus, gave birth to her baby which weighs more than 60 pounds.
Once the park finds out the baby’s gender, they’ll give it a name.
The newborn’s father is Henry, who is the grandfather of the most famous hippo in the world: Fiona.
Fiona’s father, also named Henry, moved from the Dickerson Park Zoo to the Cincinnati Zoo.
Saturday was also Fiona’s first birthday. When the little hippo grows up, she won’t be so little anymore, weighing in at over 2,000 pounds.
