Amber Alert Canceled for Two Children from St. Charles, Police Search for Father


Update 6 p.m.: The two children have been found, according to the St. Charles Police Department. They were found in Fairmount City, Illinois.

However, police are still searching for their father, Fernando Marez.

The Amber Alert has been canceled. Police are in the process of reuniting the children with their mother.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The St. Charles Police Department has issued an Amber Alert for child abduction.

The abduction occurred at 2009 Santa Monica Street in St. Charles, Missouri between 10:30 and 11 a.m. on April 5. 

The two children are Fernando Marez, Jr.,  3, and Alexia Marez, 1. Both are of Hispanic descent. Fernando Jr. was last seen wearing a blue shirt and grey sweatpants. Alexia was last seen wearing a white and pink flower onesie and blue pants. 

The suspect in the abduction is Fernando Marez, a 24-year-old Hispanic male. Marez is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black vest, blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans and Champion brand shoes. Marez also has tattoos of the two children’s names on either arm. 

The suspect vehicle is a tan 4-door SUV with either an Illinois or Missouri registration. Partial plate E15.

The suspect physically assaulted the mother of the children and threatened to kill one of the children before leaving the scene westbound with another unknown Hispanic male and female subject in the vehicle.
