Active Shooter Course Prepares NWA Churches for the Worst

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Northwest Arkansas congregations are ramping up its security with an active shooter training course.

The workshop at Trinity Fellowship is designed to help ministers monitor and manage possible risks within their own church.

Organizer, Kurt Hetherington, says this training is essential for all churches.

“This is a risk that’s not going to go away. Churches reach out to hurting people, we want those individuals to come but we also need an environment for our churches that provide safety,” Hetherington said.

Hetherington also says the hands-on training within an actual church allowed the event to seem more realistic and better prepares those who were in attendance.
