Accomplice Charged in Phelps County Inmate Escape

ROLLA, Mo.– Law enforcement in Phelps County continues to search for Michael J. Schultz who escaped from the Phelps County Jail and has now charged the driver of the getaway vehicle, who is also missing.

According to a press release, investigators overnight located the truck used in the escape empty in Jefferson County and charged Cole A. White with aiding the escape of a prisoner confined for a felony.

The Sheriff’s Department says it happened about 7:50 p.m. Monday.  Security video shows Schultz getting into a white long bed Chevy pick-up truck (below)  and drive off.

Schultz is described as 32, 6’02” tall, 200 pounds with a shaved head. He was last seen wearing orange pants, a white t-shirt and brown work boots.

White is a 24-year-old white male, 5’4” tall, 130 pounds. He also has ties to both Franklin and Jefferson County Missouri.

Schultz has ties to the Union, Franklin County Missouri area. Anyone with should contact the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department at (573) 426-3860, your local police department or call 911.
