ROGERSVILLE, Mo.– A 5-month old baby is back safe with family, after being taken by someone who stole the car she was in.
An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday night, but was cancelled less than 45 minutes later when the car, with the baby inside, was found.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department issued the Amber Alert, saying “”An unknown person stole a black in color 2007 Chevrolet Impala bearing Missouri plate DC43G from the Kum & Go, 4996 South State Highway 125, Rogersville MO. The vehicle was occupied by a 5 month old baby wearing a onesie that says “loveable”. The vehicle was last seen, on camera, driving west bound on US 60. “
The baby’s caretaker, an aunt, said the 5 month old had a cold and was asleep. That’s why she left her in the car while she ran into the Kum & Go in Rogersville.
The real success in this story is the Amber Alert system, which helped locate the child within 43 minutes.
The sheriffs department tells us that a 9-1-1 caller recognized the description of the vehicle soon after the alert was issued.
