LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three horses who raced at Arkansas’ Oaklawn Park this season have learned their post positions for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.
Arkansas Derby winner Creator has drawn Post Position 3 (10 -1 morning line). Creator is trained by seven-time Oaklawn leading trainer Steve Asmussen
Arkansas Derby runner-up and Southwest Stakes winner Suddenbreakingnews drew Post Position 2 (20-1 morning line). Suddenbreakingnews is trained by longtime Oaklawn trainer Donnie K. Von Hemel.
Arkansas Derby third-place finisher Whitmore will leave the gate at Post Position 10 (20-1 morning line). Whitmore is co-owned by trainer Ron Moquett of Hot Springs and Harry Rosenblum of Little Rock.
Last year’s Kentucky Derby was won by superhorse American Pharoah, who also won the 2015 Arkansas Derby and went on to win horse racing’s Triple Crown.
