LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A group of three friends from Little Rock has known each other for 20 years, but now share the same scar.
Because over the past three years, all three of these men have been diagnosed with neck cancer.
This was a wake up for three men, who did not fit the cancer pattern.
Their surgeon, Dr. Scott Stern, says 30 years ago his patients were 70-year-old smokers.
Now, he’s seeing 40 to 50-year-old people who don’t smoke.
Stern says it’s important no matter your age or your history, go see your doctor.
“It’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen,” Stern said. “It’s what we call a cluster and I’ve asked them all, you need to change where you’re working, you need to change the water you’re drinking.
“If you have a sore throat that lasts more than two weeks, that needs to be investigated.”
Thankfully all three men are now cancer free.
