KANSAS CITY, Kan. — An AMBER Alert was issued for a 2-year-old boy taken in Wyandotte County. That boy has now been found safe. Two people are in custody
Jace Brunt was forcibly taken at about 12:50 p.m. Friday from his biological mother by his non-custodial father.
The father, 25-year-old Joshua Andrew Brunt, allegedly used a firearm to force compliance and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Jasmine Brunt Redmond, allegedly used Mace during the event.
The violent actions at the scene indicated to police that Jace would be in imminent danger.
The suspect left the1700 block of South 35th St. in Kansas City, Kansas, heading south in a white, newer style Dodge Charger with damage on the rear end and rear driver side.
Joshua Brunt was said to be 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a muscular build, wearing red shorts and a tank top. He has tattoos on his arms and neck.
Jasmine “Brunt” Redmond is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and was wearing long braids in a ponytail. She has a slender build. She was last seen wearing a black spaghetti strap tank top and green basketball shorts.
Redmond called KCTV5 News and said the boy is safe with his father. She claims that reports that she and Joshua Brunt used a gun and mace are wrong.
“They had the gun,” Redmond said. “They had the mace. They maced me. I still have mace on my body and then they maced me and locked me in the house and was stomping me and was macing me.”
She said that the boy’s father was prepared to take him to the police station.
Shortly thereafter, the boy was reunited with police.
KCTV5 News shared that information from that phone call with the Wyandotte County authorities.
