MARYVILLE, Mo. — A 19-year-old college student from Liberty, Missouri was killed in a bar on Sunday when a vehicle hit the front of the building and injured her.
The incident happened around 12:40 a.m. at The Palms in Maryville, Missouri, according to KCTV.
KCTV reports officers arrived at the scene following a 911 call and found a vehicle had crashed into the front of the bar in the 400 block of North Buchanan Street.
A woman had been injured inside the bar.
The victim, Morgan McCoy, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and died there due to her injuries, according to KCTV.
The driver was taken into custody at the scene, according to KCTV.
The investigation is ongoing.
McCoy was a sophomore at Northwest Missouri State University. She was an elementary education major, a student employee with the School of Education, and a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

“The University is encouraging students in need of counseling assistance outside of regular business hours at Wellness Services to contact University Police at 660-562-1254,” a statement from the university said. “Faculty and staff should call the University employee assistance program at 800-964-3577. A county counseling support line also is available to all members of the Northwest community at 888-279-8188.”
According to Maryville city law, it is legal for people who are 19 years old or older to be inside bars.
