$12,000 donated to Gathering Friends for the Homeless

News

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A local organization that gives supplies and helps feed the homeless is now $12,000 dollars richer!

The generous gift giving was quite hairy

The Queen City Beard and Mustache Federation presented its fundraising check to the co-founder, Jennifer Cannon, of the group, “Gathering Friends for the Homeless.”

Along with donations, several local business raised money at the 10th Annual Beard Competition back in May.

The donations have already been put into work by helping a family buy bus tickets to Kansas City, to re-unite with family. Cannon was relieved, “We were able to say yes. We didn’t have to check to see how much those tickets we’re going to cost. We didn’t have to check out bank account”

The Queen City Federation has raised over $100,000 in the last decade.

Next year’s recipient will be Missouri Institute of Natural Science

If you want to help,  the group meets ever 2nd wednesday of each month.
