Springfield police release name of man who was shot Sunday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Springfield police say they have identified a suspect in a deadly shooting that happened Sunday morning, October 24. Police say 43-year-old Robert Eagleburger from Springfield died at a Springfield hospital.

At about 5:19 a.m., the Springfield Police Department was notified of a possible stabbing victim. Arriving at 1118 West Division, the victim was found to have actually suffered a gunshot wound.

Eagleburger was transported to the hospital in a serious condition but later died.

Officers determined the shooting happened at 1122 W. Lynn St. They have identified a suspect in the shooting. Officers have interviewed this person, but have not arrested them. Once the investigation is done, police will forward the case to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office to decide if charges should be filed.

At the time, the SPD said it did not believe there is an active threat to the public and that the shooting was an isolated incident.
