Mike Landis

Mike Landis has a passion for sharing the important stories that impact our community. You can catch him anchoring with Lauren Barnas during weeknights on FOX 49 News at 6:30 and 9:00. You’ll also see his reports on KOLR10.

As a native of southwest Missouri (born in Springfield and a graduate of Ash Grove High School), Mike considers it a privilege to share the news with viewers he considers friends, family, and neighbors.

Having spent nearly 15 years on local airwaves, Mike is a familiar face to viewers across the Ozarks.  He got his start at KTTS radio in Springfield. There, he wore several hats: news anchor, reporter, storm chaser, and host of a weekly current affairs talk show.  Then, it was off to KQTV in St. Joseph, MO, where he was an evening anchor and reporter. Mike made his way back home to Springfield in 2010 and spent the next eight years as a reporter and fill-in anchor for another TV station in the market. In April 2021, he joined the KOLR10/FOX 49 family as a reporter/weekend anchor and moved to the weeknight FOX 49 anchor desk in March 2022.

For his work, Mike has won a regional Edward D. Murrow Award in addition to being nominated three times for regional Emmy awards.  In addition, he has been recognized multiple times by the Missouri Broadcasters Association and Kansas City Press Club.

While you’ll usually find Mike talking about current events of the day, he also has an interest in historical happenings and topics.  In 2018, he released “Show Me Katy,” a colorful book about the old railroad line which became the Katy Trail across central Missouri. He has also produced and narrated several video documentaries, including “Phenix: the Life and Legacy of a Town Lost,” and “Katy’s Country.”

Mike would love to hear from you!  You can reach out by following his Facebook page @MikeLandisTV, Instagram @MikeLandisTV, or email at mlandis@kolr10.com.
