While this is Carissa Codel’s first time on air, she has been working behind the scenes at KOLR 10 & FOX 49 for over five years.
Before becoming a reporter in April 2023, Carissa first joined the OzarksFirst team as a web producer in 2018, where she wrote articles online and posted to KOLR 10 & FOX 49’s social media pages.
From there, she moved to a producing role for the morning newscast, Daybreak, for nearly two years. In late 2021, Carissa was promoted to executive producer, where she was a manager for all evening newscasts.
Carissa realized her love for journalism in high school, where she was the anchor for her school’s weekly newscast and a reporter for the school paper. She went to college at Missouri State University, where she majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in anthropology. During college, Carissa worked at the newspaper as a reporter and editor for three years.
A native of Kansas City, Carissa is an avid Chiefs and Royals fan.
Carissa is excited to get to know the people of the Ozarks and share their stories!
