Clouds from yesterday's cold front are clearing northeast this morning. High-pressure noses in this afternoon, providing mostly sunny skies and a cool, calm north wind. With a cool air mass in place, highs only make it to the low to middle 50's today, high 56 degrees in Springfield despite sunshine. Average for this time of April is 68 degrees.

FROST ADVISORY in effect again tonight for much of SW and south central MO, including Springfield. Temperatures dip to/ below freezing again. Take in/ cover up any cold-sensitive/ blooming plants to avoid damage! Kids will need gloves and jackets at the bus stop again in the morning.

Tomorrow will be warmer! We'll kick a steady southeast wind ahead of our weekend storm system. Southeast winds will be sustained 10-20 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. With sunshine, that warm wind will help temperatures rebound into the lower 60's after a cold morning. High 63 degrees in Springfield.

Our next storm system develops west in the Four Corners Region on Friday and shoots out of the Rockies on Saturday. It makes its approach Saturday afternoon, but slow enough where showers hold off until late evening/ overnight. Expect mostly cloudy skies on Saturday afternoon with highs around 60 degrees.

Sunday the low passes to our south, keeping the Ozarks cool, cloudy, and damp. Expect a few rounds of showers with the most rain accumulation (up to 1") south of Springfield, mainly in northern Arkansas. Springfield should see about 0.5" rain, with totals less than that north in central Missouri.

Highs on Sunday get stuck in the upper 50's.

Rain clears out by Monday morning, a few clouds linger Monday afternoon but temperatures warm into the middle 60's.

Sunshine and 60's linger through Wednesday... quiet weather to start the week!
