Lt. Eric Reece says when the boy was returned to his mother, another physical argument took place between the suspect and the boy's mother. The suspect left the area and had not been found by police of midnight.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Police are on the lookout for a man suspected of abducting his ex-girlfriend’s six-year-old boy, according to Greene County Dispatch.
Police say around 5:30 p.m. Monday, a child was taken from a residence at 865 S. Douglas in Springfield.
The child’s name is not yet available, but police say they do believe the boy has been taken by the mother’s ex-boyfriend.
According to Lt. Eric Reece with the Springfield Police Department, the mother gave the boy to her ex-boyfriend earlier Monday. Later, a disagreement between the two lead to a physical altercation and the ex-boyfriend refused to return the boy to his mother.
Reece says that's when the boy's mother called police.
Authorities say they do not believe the child is in danger.
The boy was last seen wearing a red and grey button-up shirt and jean shorts.
Investigators say the boy and the suspect could be in a black BMW, a black GMC Yukon or a white convertible Pontiac Sunfire.
Lt. Reece says they are in contact with the suspect and are working with him to get the child to family in the Springfield-area.
Information will be updated as it becomes available.
