Most of Missouri Warned Against Burning Today

82 of Missouri’s 114 counties are under a “red flag” warning through tonight from the National Weather Service, which means there is a high danger of fires because of strong southwest winds and dry conditions.

Officials are urging residents in the warned area to avoid burning.  The counties that aren’t impacted are in northern and northeastern Missouri and the Bootheel.  To see if your area is included, visit the website for the Weather Service office that covers it:

Pleasant Hill: Northwest Missouri including Kansas City, Kirksville and Moberly

St. Louis: Northeast and eastern Missouri including St. Louis, Columbia and Hannibal

Springfield: Southwest Missouri including Springfield, Fort Leonard Wood and the Lake of the Ozarks

Paducah, KY:  The Bootheel in Southeast Missouri

Davenport, IA:  Scotland and Clark Counties in Northeast Missouri
