SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- UPDATE (9:57am) Springfield fire fighters are currently on scene at Christ Episcopal Church, 601 E. Walnut, where a fire caused minor damage to an outside wall.

The fire, which apparently started in a trash bin near the building, spread and slightly charred an outside wall of the two-story structure.  The fire did not spread to the interior of the church.

Christ Episcopal Church was built in 1870 and added to the National Register in 1987.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
