GRANBY, Mo.-- A Granby woman will go to prison for the death of her infant son.  Monday, a judge in Newton County sentenced Elizabeth Farnam, 33,  to four years behind bars.

Farnam pleaded guilty in September to second degree involuntary manslaughter. She was originally charged with second degree murder for the June 2012 death of her son.

Newton County sheriff deputies responded to Farnam's home in June of last year and found her 22-month-old son, Logan, unresponsive.

Farnam told authorities she put the child to sleep the day before, but he wasn't breathing the next morning. Toxicology reports show the boy died from an overdose of methadone.

According to court documents, Farnam obtained methadone illegally for her own use. She says she dropped the pill and her son picked it up and ate it.
