Woman Dies After Sunday Scooter Accident

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A woman died after a scooter accident on Sunday, Nov. 10, sent her to the hospital.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A woman died after a scooter accident near the intersections of Grant and Chestnut Expressway on Sunday, Nov. 10, after 9 p.m.

According to Springfield Police Department spokeswoman Lisa Cox, officers responded to the scene of an accident at 9:38 p.m., where they found Sarah A. Cook, 52, of Springfield.  Cook reportedly drove through the grass on the south side of Chestnut Expressway on her scooter, continued north across the eastbound lanes of traffic, struck the median and was thrown from the scooter.

Cook was not wearing a helmet.

She was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead the next day, Nov. 11, at 2:12 p.m.

The accident is currently under investigation.
