BUTTERFIELD, Mo. -- A Wheaton man killed in a Wednesday morning, four-vehicle accident in Barry County was the 94th fatality of 2013 in the Missouri Highway Patrol’s Troop D district in southwest Missouri.

Lukas W. Walker, 34, was a passenger in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Amanda Walker, 27, of Purdy. He was dead at the scene on Barry County Route W about a half mile west of Butterfield, according to a report from the patrol.

The accident occurred when a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jennifer A. Moerer, 34, of Wheaton, crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Antonio Luna, 73, of Rocky Comfort.

Moerer’s auto then struck the Walker car, causing it to rotate out of control, cross the center line and then be struck by a fourth vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Durango driven by Suzanne Morin, 34, of Butterfield.

Barry County Assistant Coroner Charles McManus pronounced Lukas Walker dead at the scene, shortly after the 6:30 a.m. crashes.

Drivers Luna, Amanda Walker and passengers Susanne Morin and George Luna Nunez, both passengers in the Morin vehicle, all suffered serious injuries and were flown to Springfield hospitals for treatment.

Also injured were Moerer and her passenger, 3-year-old Greyson C. Heatley. They were taken to Springfield hospitals for injuries described by the patrol as minor or moderate.
