SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Congressman Billy Long (R-7th District) spoke out about Syria in his visit to Springfield Tuesday.
This comes after U.S. Senator John McCain made a surprise visit to Syria over the holiday weekend. The U.S. is trying to negotiate a diplomatic resolution to the 2-year-long battle between the Syrian government and rebel fighters hoping to overthrow President Bashar Al-Assad.
"I'm still very concerned about who we would be helping if we decide to help the opposition," Congressman Long tells KOLR10 News. "Al Qaeda's all over the place. I'm not in favor of jumping off the cliff before we know what we're jumping into."
