Victim of Fatal Crash Identified

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The driver killed in a one-car crash south of Springfield Wednesday has been identified as Ramiro Sanchez, 23, of Springfield.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The driver killed in a one-car crash south of Springfield Wednesday has been identified as Ramiro Sanchez, 23, of Springfield.

According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Sanchez was the driver of a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that went off the road, struck a utility pole, overturned and then struck a tree.  It happened some time before 6:50 a.m. Wednesday.

 He was pronounced dead at the scene by Tom Vandenberg of the Greene County Medical Examiner’s office at 6:47 a.m. Sanchez was not wearing a seat belt, the report said.

The accident on Farm Road 192 (Steinert Road) just west of the southern extension of National Avenue (Farm Road 163) occurred overnight, but was not discovered until Wednesday morning.

He was the 106th traffic fatality of 2013 in patrol Troop D, which includes 18 counties in southwest Missouri, the report said.
