UPDATE: Water Seeping Onto Roadway Confirmed as Water Main Break

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Traffic was tied up on Battlefield Wednesday morning near Lone Pine after a car slammed into a tree just feet away from a utility pole caused by ice formed from a water main break.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Traffic was tied up on Battlefield Wednesday morning near Lone Pine after a car slammed into a tree just feet away from a utility pole.

There were no injuries, but traffic was reduced to just one lane on Battlefield during the morning commute.

Public Works officials say water has been seeping onto that westbound lane on Battlefield since the recent snowfall.

Crews tested the water to determine if it’s from a spring or a water main break and, according to Todd Wagner with Public Works, the water seeping onto the road is caused by a water main break.

Crews are on scene addressing the situation.

Road crews have re-salted the roadway to help with the ice and advice to take the area slowly.  Traffic in the area has been reopened in all lanes.
