UPDATE: Shooting in Joplin Theatre Parking Lot

JOPLIN -- Police are still investigating what lead up to the shooting in the parking lot of the Regal Northstar 14 Theatre in Joplin.
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Police have released the name of the victim in a shooting in the parking lot of Regal Northstar 14. The victim is identified as 37-year-old Derek Moore of Joplin. Moore died early this morning from injuries he sustained in the shooting. Moore was shot around 9:50 p.m. as he was leaving a movie. The suspect, Jeffery Bruner, remains in the Joplin City Jail.

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Police are still investigating what lead up to the shooting in the parking lot of the Regal Northstar 14 Theatre in Joplin. Officers say a resident was involved in the apprehension of the suspect. Duquesne officers were the first on scene. Authorities confirmed the incident happened as one movie was letting out and before another began.

Joplin police responded to the theatre for a shots fired event. Police say the suspect, Jeffery Bruner, is now in custody and the victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The name of the victim has not yet been released. Officers call this a target event and say it was not random. Officers say the incident happened outside the theatre in the parking lot.
