Justice System to Update Greene County Issues

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- City and Greene County leaders will release the Safety & Justice Roundtable Report four-year update this morning.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- City and Greene County leaders will release the Safety & Justice Roundtable Report four-year update this morning.  The update will be given during a Joint City-County Planning Task Force meeting at 9:00 a.m.  The update tracks progress since the roundtablegroup's last report in 2011.

The Safety & Justice Roundtable is an 18-member citizens task force formed by the Greene County Commission and Springfield City Council. The group was asked to identify and prioritize needs within the criminal justice system and recommend possible solutions.

The group presented its Final Report in July 2009 and updated it in 2011.

The city and county say they've addressed enhancing inter-agency communications. However jail population and staffing shortages are still a problem.
