UPDATE: Police Release Identity of Hit and Run Victim

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Police have identified the man who was the victim of a hit and run Sunday evening. The man is 23 year old Zachary S. Gibson from Springfield. Gibson was traveling west on a bicycle crossing Kimbrough when a vehicle struck him.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Police have identified the man who was the victim of a hit and run Sunday evening. The man is 23 year old Zachary S. Gibson from Springfield. Gibson was traveling west on a bicycle crossing Kimbrough when a vehicle struck him.

The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bear and Kimbrough.

Lieutenant Scott Umbarger with the Springfield Police Department says a white car was traveling south on Kimbrough when the driver hit the young man on his bicycle.

Police got an anonymous tip and found the car that hit Gibson Monday, in the 600 block of West Edgewood. Police have not yet determined who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The investigation is ongoing and police ask that anyone who has information please call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or 911 immediately.
