KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City reports a case of the stomach bug Cyclospora. It's the fifth case reported to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Previously, the department announced that health providers in Jackson County, Taney County, Miller County and the Kansas City metro area reported cases of Cyclospora.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says it is currently working with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other agencies to investigate whether or not these cases are linked to cases in other states.

At this point, the source of the illnesses has not been confirmed. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will continue to provide information as it becomes available.

In the meantime, any individuals experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea (especially, those with prolonged symptoms), severe stomach cramps, or nausea, should seek medical attention.
