Two Springfield Dental Offices "Buy-Back" Candy to Send to Troops

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Trick-or-Treating is fun for kids, but cavities are quite the opposite. Two Springfield Dental organizations are holding candy buyback events after Halloween this year.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Trick-or-Treating is fun for kids, but cavities are quite the opposite. Two Springfield Dental organizations are holding candy buyback events after Halloween this year.

Wilkinson’s Dental is holding their event this afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at their office at 1902 E. Battlefield, they will also also be collecting candy from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The “Treat Our Troops” program allows children to bring in their unwanted candy in exchange for chances to win prizes, which are donated by local businesses and individuals. After the event all of the candy will go to Operation Gratitude where it will be sent in packages along with letters of encouragement to servicemen and servicewomen overseas. Since the Halloween candy program started, over 127 tons of candy has been sent to the troops.

If you are unable to make it to Wilkinson’s today, Cash Family Orthodontics will be buying back candy from November 4th to 8th. Kids can bring their candy in throughout the week in exchange for $1 per pound, all the candy collected will also be sent to the troops. Cash Family Orthodontics will hold a special event day on November 7th from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with face painting, balloon animals, and refreshments
