Two People Dead After Car Accident in Stone County

STONE COUNTY, Mo. – Two people died after a car accident Thursday on Hwy 39, two miles north of Carr Lane, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
STONE COUNTY, Mo. – Two people died after a car accident Thursday on Hwy 39, two miles north of Carr Lane, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to an accident report, a 2001 Dodge Durango driving southbound on the highway crossed the center lane and slammed into a 1996 Ford Econoline Van head on.

The driver of the van, James M. Echols, 79, and his passenger, Patricia Kobashigawa, both of Shell Knob, were pronounced dead at the scene at 3 p.m. According to the report, both victims were not wearing safety devices.

The driver of the Durango, Quarlene Z. House, 57, also of Shell Knob, was tested for alcohol and airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield in serious condition.
