AURORA, Mo. – Two people have been transported to the hospital after an apparent drive-by shooting in a Price Cutter parking lot in Aurora.

According to Police Chief Richard Witthuhn, an man drove into the parking lot around 6:30 p.m. and opened fired.

One suspect was taken into custody, but was not identified.

Two victims, a man and a woman, are alive and suffer from serious, yet non-life threatening injuries, according to Witthuhn.

Police officers scoured the area for shell casings to aid in an investigation, says Witthuhn.

"I was in my car leaving and I heard shots fired," Taryn Holt said.

"I drove over to check and there were two people down, so I called the cops.  Everybody was screaming, I didn't know what to do."

Holt said she saw the man was shot in the side and the woman was shot in the thigh. She said she held the woman's hand.

"We haven't had a shooting like this in years," Witthuhn said. "I can't even remember the last time we had one."

It was unclear whether the victims knew the shooter.
