Theatrical Production Artists Help Local Dancers Zombie-up

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Popular ways to celebrate Halloween usually involve pumpkins, trick or treating, haunted houses, and the annual tribute to Michael Jackson's mega-hit Thriller.  Again this year, Commercial Street in Springfield will host its Thriller street dance on Oct. 26.

A Springfield theatrical make-up company is gearing up to help people get their zombie on for performance.

KOLR10's Justin Dougherty talks with makeup artist Tim Midyett of ATC - who is in charge of all the make-up for the C-Street event.

For the zombie look, Midyett says he'll put a spray barrier on first, so the zombie makeup can be washed off easier. After that, he'll use makeup colors to take the "life" out of dancers faces, using grey, green and blue, to make the skin less rosey.  Then, special effects makeup will simulate sores and decaying skin.
