Teen Dies in Early Morning Car Crash

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri teenager was killed in a crash in the early morning hours Saturday after a 15-year-old driver overcorrected the vehicle and struck a tree.
NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – A Missouri teenager was killed in a crash in the early morning hours Saturday on Gum Road, 8 miles south of Joplin, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.


According to a crash report, a 15-year-old boy was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion XB with two other passengers when the vehicle drifted over the center line.  The driver over-corrected the vehicle, which then left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.


Dalton W. Coe, also 15, of Seneca, was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at 4:10 a.m. 


The driver of the vehicle and a 14-year-old female passenger suffered moderate injuries and were transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
