SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Drury University students have a new place to receive medical care.

The Panther Clinic held an open house Thursday afternoon. CoxHealth operates the facility and staffs it with a family nurse practitioner.

Students can get physicals and free treatment for colds, sore throats and allergies. There are fees for things like strep throat tests, flu shots and tetanus shots.

The best part of the clinic is its convenience.

"Especially when some of them may not have transportation, so it's providing better access," says Helen Oke-Thomas, a nurse at the clinic.

Full-time students, faculty, staff and their families can use the clinic. It's located in the former Women's Basketball locker room in Weiser Gym.

The Panther Clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. It originally opened inside the Findlay Student Center in June before moving to its new location in mid August.
