Suspect Killed by Arkansas State Police after Standoff

JUDSONIA, AR -- A Monday night standoff ends in White County, Arkansas with the suspect dead.
JUDSONIA, AR --  A standoff ends in White County, Arkansas with the suspect dead. Around 8 o'clock Monday night, Judsonia Police were called to 117 Meadowview circle where they found Charles Martin.

Police say Martin, 40,  fired at the officer. He refused to leave his house. State Police arrived at the scene and sent in a State Police robot. They say Martin fired at the robot, disabling it and then fired at police.

State Police returned fire, injuring Martin who later died at a hospital.
he incident is under review by the State Police Office of Professional Standards.

Special Agents of the State Police Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the shooting and will submit an investigative file to the White County Prosecuting Attorney for purposes of determining if the use of deadly force by law enforcement officers in this incident was consistent with applicable state law.
