SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- From August 1 to 12, the Springfield School District will be holding free immunization clinics at its high schools and middle schools.

The district says parents must make an appointment in advance by calling the Health Services office at 417-523-1632.

Parents also need to complete a consent form authorizing the vaccines to be administered, and bring the child's immunization record and signed consent form to the clinic at the time and location of their scheduled appointment.

Students must have documentation that they are properly immunized before enrolling in school or attending school.

Missouri law requires that all incoming eighth-graders have a Tdap vaccine unless they have received a Td booster within the last two years.

In addition, all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders should have a history of receiving a Tdap or had a Td booster within the last two years. All incoming kindergarteners, first, second, and third graders are required to have two Varicella vaccines unless there is a documented chickenpox disease (a letter from your doctor is required).
