SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Winter road conditions led Springfield Police Department officers to issue an emergency status Monday afternoon.
Officers said in a news release that during an emergency status, anyone reporting a collision will be instructed to make a walk-in report if all vehicles are operable, the accident is a non-injury and no alcohol or impairment is involved.
Anyone driving is urged to use extra caution on the roadways, as holiday travelers deal with unfavorable conditions.
Officials said drivers should clear all windows of ice and snow before driving, keep a greater following distance, steer as well as brake gently and drive speeds appropriate for the current conditions.
