SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A Springfield man pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Tuesday for sexually abusing the 5-year-old son of a family friend.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson, Larry C. Wilson, 40, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to the charge of statutory sodomy in the first degree and was sentenced to 12 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with probation denied.

Between Oct. 19 and Oct. 21, 2012, Wilson watched the boy while the mother was out of town visiting friends.  A news statement says Wilson was a trusted family friend of the boy’s mother.

When the boy’s mother picked him up, the boy told her about the abuse.

Immediately after, the police were alerted and an investigation ensued.

During an interview with the Springfield Police, Wilson confessed to the sexual abuse disclosed by the boy.

Due to the nature of Wilson’s crimes, he will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Upon his release from prison, Wilson will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to lifetime supervision, which includes GPS monitoring.
