Sparta Man Dies After Two-Car Accident

OZARK, Mo. – A Sparta man is dead after a two-car accident on Friday just after noon on Hwy 14, 1.5 miles east of Ozark, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Curtis R. Baker, 25, of Sparta died after he lost control of his 2003 Chevrolet Malibu and slid into oncoming traffic. A 1997 Chrysler Concorde hit the front of Baker’s car on the passenger side.

Baker was pronounced dead at Cox South Hospital at 1:36 p.m.

According to the traffic report, Baker was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Concorde was also not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger in the Concorde was also transported to Mercy and suffered moderate injuries.
