BRANSON WEST, Mo. -- A Southern Stone County firefighter is charged with statutory sodomy involving a young girl.

Lt. Matthew Charles Anderson, 26, of Branson West, is charged with 1st degree Statutory Sodomy stemming from an incident that happened on or about November 14, 2012 in Stone County.

According to court documents, the victim of the "deviate sexual intercourse" was six years old. A warrant was issued for Anderson's arrest on November 16.

Chief David Geyger with the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District says Anderson was a paid firefighter for nearly nine years. The alleged crime did not occur while Anderson was on duty.

"We feel for his family and the victim's family," Chief Geyger tells KOLR10 News. "As part of the fire department, we are all one big family."

Anderson appeared before a Stone County judge Tuesday morning. He's currently held in Stone County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Anderson is due in court December 11 for a bond reduction hearing. He'll then return before a judge for a preliminary hearing January 22, 2013.
